Incident Management for Private Sector Organisations

The public sector benefits significantly from adopting the Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS) as a framework for managing disruptive incidents.  Developed and utilised in Australia and New Zealand, AIIMS offers a standardised, all-encompassing approach to incident management, encompassing planning, response, and recovery phases.  Its implementation promises heightened coordination, improved communication, superior situational awareness, and operational efficiencies in incident management.

The ‘Incident Management‘ reference released by the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR) is a valuable guide to private sector organisations.  It Delineates strategic contexts and principles applicable to any business aiming to fortify its crisis and emergency management culture.  While AIIMS traditionally posed challenges to private enterprises due to its paramilitary structure, the AIDR approach recognises the adaptability of incident management structures, aligning them with a business’s existing units or being a temporary business structure based on concepts of functional management.

Our approach seamlessly merges both paradigms, recognising the imperative collaboration between private and public sectors during emergencies.  Essential for any private sector organisation, this hybrid model ensures comprehensive preparedness.  Enrol now and fortify your incident management capabilities to discover how our course integrates these strategies effectively and empowers your organisation.

PUAWER005 Operate as part of an emergency control organisation (warden)

Preventium is affiliated with the registered training organisation Tectra (RTO 40889), assuring you that the training you receive is accredited.

Participants undertaking this course will gain the knowledge, training, and practical skills to perform the role and responsibilities of a workplace warden/emergency officer effectively. They are learning how best to respond to any emergency in the workplace, including fires, bomb threats, chemical incidents and terrorism.

Our warden/emergency officer training course is custom-designed to suit the local workplace environment of companies and organisations. While workplace warden/emergency officer training concepts remain consistent, how they are practically applied in the workplace differs. This is our point of difference: collaboratively designing a course appropriate to your workplace needs considering your organisation’s emergency evacuation plan, emergency wardens will have the local knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage emergencies effectively within your complex.

Included is a pre-course site visit by our instructor to familiarise themselves with the worksite environment and critical aspects within the worksite that need addressing during the training to ensure that while responding to an emergency, wardens make the workplace before emergency services arrive.

The Participants will receive a PDF Version of their Statement of Attainment from RTO, Tectra Australia (40889), by Email, when deemed to be competent.

PUAWER006 Lead an emergency control organisation (CW)

Preventium is affiliated with the registered training organisation Tectra (RTO 40889), assuring you that the training you receive is accredited.

Experienced Wardens/Emergency Officers completing this course will gain the leadership skills needed to perform the role of Chief Warden during a workplace fire event or other incidents. Participants will better understand how to make decisions about people’s safety during a workplace emergency and how to provide instructions in responding to the emergency incident.

Like our Warden/Emergency Officer training course, we custom design the Chief Warden to suit the local workplace environment of companies and organisations. While the theoretical concepts of the training remain the same, how they are practically applied in the workplace is the difference. Collaboratively design a course with management appropriate to your workplace needs, so Chief Wardens will have the local knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead during emergencies within your complex effectively.

A pre-course site visit by our instructor is included to familiarise themselves with the worksite environment and critical aspects that need to be included in the training delivery. This will ensure that during an emergency, Chief Wardens understand practically what’s required providing direction towards making the workplace safe before emergency services arrive.

The Participants will receive a PDF Version of their Statement of Attainment from RTO, Tectra Australia (40889), by Email, when deemed to be competent.

Confidence in Decision Making

Determining a course of action from many potential choices is what we call decision-making. This process requires careful consideration of all available options and the precise meaning and exchange of explicit and tacit knowledge.   Suppose this knowledge is not accurately communicated, or the intention is not adequately understood. In that case, the decision-making process can be flawed, leading to incorrect assumptions, incorrect interpretations, and, ultimately, the wrong decision. Appreciating the knowledge known, validating it, and precise communication of information is essential for effective decision-making.

Poor decision-making can have a substantial negative impact on an organisation. It can lead to financial losses, loss of customer trust, and damage to the organisation’s reputation, negatively impacting the value of the organisation.

Crisis response aims to act quickly, effectively, and responsibly to minimise potential damage to the organisation and its reputation while protecting its employees, customers, and other stakeholders. Crisis response involves making decisions based on the best information available and turning those decisions into direction and action that control the organisation’s response to the events and minimise the impact of the crisis while staying compatible with the organisation’s strategic direction.

This facilitated workshop will engage your leaders to acknowledge and understand why decision-making is challenging and the issues associated with making decisions and explore strategies to enhance a team’s decision-making capability under stressful situations such as crises.
